Percentages are the language of finance, data science, and everyday life! 💹
When Flipkart says '70% off on MRP' but MRP was inflated beforehand — you're being fooled by base manipulation. Always verify the original cost price.
Successive % trap: "20% discount + another 10% discount" ≠ 30% off. It's actually 28% off. Formula: a + b − (a×b/100). Brands exploit this constantly.
For Data Interpretation (DI): A percentage change in the denominator causes an inverse % change in the fraction. If denominator grows 25%, the ratio falls by 20% (not 25%). This nuance is tested in CAT DI sets.
Real use: GST = 18% on base price. Income tax slabs. Loan interest. Inflation rate. Every financial decision involves percentages.
